Peter Eastgate Wins 2008 WSOP Main Event

After months of waiting there is finally a winner in the 2008 WSOP Main Event. Peter Eastgate is the new 2008 WSOP main event champion after beating Ivan Demidov in a heads up match. The final heads up match was played on November 10 a day after they widdled the final nine down to two.

At the start of the day Peter Eastgate had 79,500,000 while Ivan Demidov was not too far behind with 57,725,000. The match started at 22:38:50 and didn't end till 02:38:15 after 104 hands were dealt. Peter Eastgate won with a [Ad 5s] against Demidov's [4h 2h] with community cards [2d ks 3h, 3c and 7s]. Peter Eastgate had a straight against Demidov's two pair and the rest is history as they crowned a new wsop main event champion.

Peter Eastgate is now the youngest WSOP champion and the age of 22 breaking Phil Hellmuth's record who was 24. Peter Eastgate is from Odense, Denmark. This is his first bracelet but not his first tournament as he made the money in the 2008 EPT and made the final table in the 2007 Irish Poker Open.

Peter Eastgate will take home $9,152,416 dollars for first place and Demidov takes the 2nd place prize money giving him $5,809,595. The final table will air on ESPN on Tuesday night (that's tonight) at 9pm ET.

Poker Stars most likely will take home the honors of the new home for 2008 WSOP Main Event champion which online poker sites fight for when a unsigned poker players wins. Eastgate was wearing Poker Stars.net gear through out the tournament and most likely will sign a contract with PokerStars as a rep for the comapny like Moneymaker and Greg Raymer did in the past.
