Party Poker in Talks with Cryptologic
Well, as I said before I was going to start covering UK poker sites and a big news story has been developing and was reported on by bloomberg.
It looks like Party Poker owned by PartyGaming has been in talks with CryptoLogic to merge their poker networks. Both networks have struggled since 2006 when the UIGEA was passed and they stopped allowing US poker players. Party Poker was the biggest online poker site in the world but has since dropped behind Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker and Titan Poker (iPoker network).
CryptoLogic has a contract with Playboy and also runs InterPoker and is based in Ireland. Party Poker is based in Gilbatar and with the news their stock has risen to 132.75 up 7.93%. While at the same time the CryptoLogic site has gone down .31 cents (-6.44%) to 4.50.
The deal is definitely not done and things may change but this could definitely change the landscape of UK poker rooms.
